Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins (born in Mexico) is an Mexican American journalist. She works as an ESPN news anchor and hosts SportsNation at times. She began working for ESPN as a news anchor in 2016. Her mother is the TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is a bilingual woman and has been since the age of nine. Her ability in this area has helped her get her first job at Univision, Miami. She could work alongside national producers on shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Then, the CBS station located in St. Petersburg employed her as a sport reporter. She moved in 2009 to Rio Grande Valley, Texas to work as an investigative reporter for the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. The stories she wrote about covered immigration drugs, immigration, as well as other issues on both the Texas and Mexico border. Additionally, she worked as an anchor and Spanish reporter at the newscast at 5 p.m. as well as anchor and reporter for the newscast from nine p.m. in English and again a Spanish reporter for 10 p.m. Anchor duties on sports and weather was also frequently demanded. Later, she was anchor and reporter at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She was a reporter for events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and NBA Postseason and the finals of FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. Besides this, she produced Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor. The show was promoted to be anchoring sports to Despierta America Deportes' morning show. It was the same role in Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo for the UniMas Network. Antonietta Collins was a native of the city of Veracruz, Mexico. The girl was born on November 22nd the 22nd of November, 1984 in Mexico City. Also, she has a younger sibling. In 1992 her family left Mexico and moved to Miami. In 1992, the couple divorced then shortly thereafter in 1995 she remarried Fabio Fajardo, a naval engineer who passed away in 2006 due to kidney cancer. In the summer of 2006, she spent one week with her sibling at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was employed there. Antonietta was a senior in high school having a clear idea of where she would like her life to look like, traveled to Mount Union University to see what she could get out of the college. The campus was stunning and offered the degree she was looking for. Her studies were completed and she was accepted into the University for a master's degree studying media and communication studies. Her relationship lasted for a while with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor at WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a member. The professor encouraged her to have self-confidence and was deeply touched by his passion for journalism.
